Covid-19 Announcement Ames, Iowa. Affecting all Food at First volunteers and patrons.

First of all, a big YES !! Food at First is open for business !! With changes

Food at First will continue to feed the hungry!! Especially in this uncertain time of need. Food at First is needed now more than ever.

Important covid-19 changes as of Wed March 18, 2020

1) Covid-19 Food at First Free Meal changes: Meals are pre-selected carry-out and may be picked up outside the main Food at First entrance in the parking lot at First Christian Church, 611 Clark, Ames, IA. Volunteers will pack nice meals like the one pictured. Meal times will not change. https://foodatfirst.wordpress.com/meal/ for more info.

Meals: Sun/Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri 5:45 PM – 6:15 PM + Sat 11:30 PM – 12:15 PM

Stay 6 feet apart or more in line outside. Since meals are pre-selected patrons are served rapidly

2) Covid-19 Food at First Free Market changes: Free Market are pre-selected carry-out only at the Main entrance to Food at First, outside in the parking lot at 611 Clark. Volunteers will pre-bag staples and fresh produce.

Free Market Mon/Thu 4:30 – 5:30 pm + Sat 10 – 11 am

Stay 6 feet apart or more in line outside. Since grocery items are pre-selected and pre-bagged, patrons are served rapidly

Patty dishing up the first carry-out meal that Food at First has ever done for a regular meal. This was a test run of 20 meals on Monday Mar 16, 2020. The test went well.

The health and safety of the Food at First community comes first, both volunteers and patrons alike. Food at First will continue to monitor this rapidly evolving situation with Coronavirus.
