This page represents the most accurate, up-to-date information regarding Food At First’s catering of meals for the KHOI Grassroots Radio Conference (GRC) event. The contact persons are Scott Walker (scott@foodatfirst.com, cell = 7zero8-69five5) for FAF, and Kay Puttock (kay.puttock@gmail.com) for KHOI.
Dates: August 14-17, 2014
Location: most events at Octagon and FUMC
Expected attendees: 150, which includes people from the Ames community (KHOI will update FAF if more specific numbers are available)
Event website: GRC 2014
FAF will serve the following meals:
Friday, August 15th: breakfast (7-8:15), lunch (12-1:20)
Saturday, August 16th: breakfast (7-8:30), lunch (12:30-1:30)
Sunday, August 17th: breakfast (8-9:15), lunch (12:30-2:00)
All meals will take place in the FUMC Fellowship Hall. Meals will be served cafeteria-style, as the typical FAF meal is, with volunteers putting food onto plates for the purpose of portion-control.
Scott Walker (FAF) will coordinate the following for each meal…
- determine Head Chef
- determine menu
- gather ingredients
- prepare, serve, and clean up
KHOI will be providing some volunteers for meals, with the majority coming from the FAF volunteer base. An online sign-up will be created by FAF and made available to KHOI as well. The meals will use locally-sourced food as much as possible, and will include vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
Any special decoration of the space will be provided by KHOI volunteers and conference-goers. We are also planning to have information about FAF (meal program and free market) on the tables during meals. It would be ideal if the lunch crowd is “staggered”, instead of coming to the line as one large mob – though FUMC’s facilities do allow for people to congregate indoors while waiting to join the line.
